Dane Channon
I have been practicing as a psychologist in South Africa for nine years. I have also worked in the United Kingdom for CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – London).
My special interest lies in paediatric (developmental) psychology and I have completed a three year, applied doctorate program (coursework), in child and adolescent psychology through the University of the Free State. I do however see clients of all ages as developmental psychology takes a lifespan approach.
My expertise lie in diagnosing and treating neurodevelopmental disorders. I am privileged to be one of only a handful of specialists on the continent to hold registrations in the Griffiths III, ADOS-2 and DISCO developmental-based assessments.
I view therapy as collaboration between client and therapist. A technical eclectic and integrative approach is followed, by considering which therapeutic approach will work best for a particular client, in a particular situation, with a particular problem. I run my practice based on a firm ethical foundation and only use scientifically sound approaches
