I am a registered Clinical Psychologist based in Bellville, next to Louis Leipoldt Hospital.
I provide therapeutic services to adults and adolescents.
I have a particular interest in assisting individuals who are struggling with trauma (incl. PTSD), loss and bereavement. However, I work with the full range of issues affecting adults and adolescents, incl. anxiety and phobias, mood disorders, adjustment difficulties, relational issues; stress management, and facilitating personal exploration and growth.
Orientation and approach to therapy
I follow an integrative approach to therapy. An integrative psychotherapist incorporates elements of different models to help their clients. Instead of having a single approach that is used to treat all clients in all situations, an integrative therapist views every person as an individual, and uses therapeutic techniques that are tailored to fit an individual's specific requirements and situation.
Amongst others, I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT).
I believe that the main goal of therapy is to collaborate with the individual in overcoming their current challenges in order for them to move forward on their path to becoming the person they would like to be.
Sessions are charged at average medical aid rates.
