“Discussing positive experiences leads to heightened well-being, increased overall life satisfaction and even more energy” Nathaniel Lambert

I graduated with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology as well as Honours degree in Psychological Counselling from the University of South Africa. In addition to these, I have a BA degree in Communication from the University of South Africa and a University diploma in Education from the University of Bophuthatswana (currently North-West University).  I have experience working with people of all ages as a clinical psychologist, educator, and school principal. My experience as a clinical psychologist includes having worked at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital in Krugersdorp and at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. I am a registered member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

My Approach

I apply various theories of psychotherapy as a roadmap to guide me through the process of understanding clients and their problems.  My main approach is Family Systems Theory which I apply when working with couples and families as well as with individuals and groups. Family Systems Theory sees a system as characterized by a group of parts that interact to form a coherent whole.  Changes in one component of a system will affect other components as well as the overall entity.  In therapy, behaviours, patterns, communication, and familial relationships are examined within and beyond the therapy session, allowing the therapist and client/s to observe how certain behaviours could be impacting them as individuals, couples or families. Systems theory is not only applied to individuals, couples, and families, but also to organizations, communities, or businesses to help groups gain insight into how each member’s role within a group may affect its functionality.

My Services

I offer a wide variety of psychological services including psychotherapy, which can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing. Research shows that most people who receive psychotherapy experience symptom relief and are better able to function in their lives. The benefits also include fewer sick days, less disability, fewer medical problems, and increased work satisfaction.  I use evidence-based approach to help my clients attain their desired well-being through:

  • Individual therapy
  • Couples therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy

I also do:

  • Medico-Legal assessments
  • Transformational speaking
  • Workshops to schools and organisations
