Craig M. Traub is a UK Chartered and HPCSA registered Clinical Psychologist and Criminologist. Craig works mainly with individual adults and also conducts group therapy and workshops. He works predominantly within a contemporary psychodynamic framework, specifically, self, intersubjective and relational psychotherapy.
Craig qualified with a BSocSc (Psychology and Philosophy) in 2006 from the University of Cape Town (UCT), and a BAHons (Psychology) (cum laude) in 2007 from Stellenbosch University (SU). He obtained an MPhil (Criminal Justice) in 2009 from UCT, and an MA (Clinical Psychology and Community Counselling) in 2010 from SU. Craig trained in a broad range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion focused therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy.
Craig completed his internship at Lentegeur and Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospitals, and Mitchell’s Plain Community Health Clinic. He trained within the Intellectual Disability Service, Child and Family Unit, Therapeutic and Forensic Wards, as well as in psychometry and neuropsychology. Craig completed his community service in the Department of Defence: South African Military Health Service (SAMHS), at the Heidelberg Military Sickbay, where he provided therapeutic services to soldiers and their families for the entire East Rand region of the Gauteng Province. Craig then worked for Akeso: Specialised Psychiatric Clinics at Crescent Clinic, Randburg. He worked in the Dual Diagnosis Unit (DDU), General Psychiatric Unit, and in the Young Adults Programme (YAP). Craig has also worked as a trauma and HIV/AIDS counsellor for the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Correctional Services at several South African prisons.
