I work with all couples and adults within a psychoanalytic and psychodynamic framework. I therefore understand psychotherapy as a process of increased conscious awareness of our unconscious feelings, needs, anxieties and fantasies, within the context of our current and past relationships. Increased conscious awareness provides us with information about ourselves, about others and about our environment so that we can grow, change and realize our full potential.

People are complex and unique. When we present with a symptom(s) or specific problem, the focus of the work is often much broader and more encompassing than the presenting problem. I therefore include specific areas of interest and experience, although the work is never limited to this only:

  • Anxiety
  • Abuse
  • Bereavement/Grief
  • Chronic Illness
  • Depression (including Bipolar)
  • Eating Disorders
  • EMDR
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Physical Disability
  • Post-natal depression and/or adjustment
  • Psychoses
  • Relationship / Couples
  • Separation and divorce
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Stress

I am a member of the following professional bodies:

  • Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
  • Post Natal Depression Support Association
  • South African Association of Jungian Analysts
  • South African Association of Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
  • South African Psychoanalytic Initiative
  • South African Psychoanalytic Confederation
