Clinical Psychologist

I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and with the Board of Health Care Funders of South Africa (BHF). I completed my BA (Hons) Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology degree at the University Witwatersrand.

During my internship I worked at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, in the Acute Psychiatric Unit and at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in the Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatry Unit. I went on to complete my community service as a clinical psychologist at Sizwe Tropical Disease hospital, a specialist hospital treating drug resistant tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS related illnesses.

I work with adults (18 years and older) in individual therapy, as well as in couples’ therapy. While I am adept in handling a variety of difficulties, I am particularly interested in working with couples and young professionals who seek assistance with integrating their personal identity with their professional identity.

My interventions are client centred in that they are geared towards meeting the needs and expectations of the client. My aim is to exercise flexibility in the various psychotherapeutic approaches. This allows me to assist the clients in the most appropriate way. I believe that the relationship between a client and therapist is of paramount importance if the therapy is to be fruitful. I believe in making psychotherapy as accessible as possible, to this end, I use my multilingual abilities to conduct therapy in several South African languages, namely, Isizulu, Sesotho, Setswana, Xitsonga and Tshivenda.
