Psychotherapy tends to be a long term process. Investing in this process leads to sustainable change. I work together with my clients to make sense of current symptoms and difficulties, while also exploring how the current issues are influenced by past relationships, particularly those in the course of our childhood. This allows for healing and growth to take place to ensure a more fulfilling life experience.
Difficulties I work with include:
- Relational problems
- Adjustment difficulties
- Issues relating to pregnancy and parenthood
- Developing identity and independence
- Difficulties particular to young adulthood
I originally qualified and worked as a social worker, and later went on to complete my training in Clinical Psychology at UCT. As a social worker, I worked in the fields of substance abuse and with older teenagers and young adults facing various difficulties both in Cape Town and in the UK. Since becoming a psychologist I have focused my attention more on my areas of interest as mentioned above. Prior to starting my private practice, I have worked in both in- and out- patient settings in Cape Town.
