I am a Clinical Psychologist practicing from rooms in Parktown North, Johannesburg. I work with adult individuals and couples, as well as with parents with infants. I aim to create a space where the individual feels understood and free to be themselves, in establishing a supportive and valuable therapeutic relationship.
Clients may consider therapy for a number of reasons; common among them is a sense of struggle and a desire for something to be different. I provide my clients with a warm space that allows for this consideration of change, be it relief from distressing symptoms of trauma, anxiety or depression, or gaining deeper insight into emotional functioning and relationships.
I work from an integrative perspective in order to best meet the unique needs and goals of my clients. I utilise various theories in understanding the client and their relationships, including interactional theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic theory.
Specifically, I offer individual and couple’s therapy in areas of:
- Adjustment to life stressors
- Depression and Post-Natal Depression
- Anxiety or Panic
- Parent-infant relationships (including adoption)
- Parenting challenges
- Bereavement or loss
- Eating disorders
- Relationship and marriage difficulties
- Family and parenting difficulties
- Gender identity/ Transgender issues
- Physical, sexual and emotional abuse
I have a special interest in working with couples and with post-natal depression and adjustment, using parent-infant psychotherapy.
My rooms in Parktown North are in close proximity to a number of suburbs in greater Johannesburg including Parktown, Parkhurst, Rosebank, Parkview, Westcliff, Houghton, Greenside, Craighall Park, Illovo and Hyde Park.
