I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with six years experience in a range of fields across Psychology including Psychiatric settings, Employee Health and Wellness and Neuropsychological Testing within the Medico-Legal area. I offer a range of mental health services ranging from individual therapy, family therapy and Couple Counseling and Group Psychotherapy. I have special interest in working with adult issues and Couples Counseling using Imago Therapy.

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2007. Upon graduating I worked for 1 year at Natalspruit Adult Mixed Psychiatry unit and two years at Leratong Hospital. Both settings entailed working within a multidisciplinary team in order to provide holistic and comprehensive treatment for patients presenting with a range of Psychiatric and Psychosocial difficulties. The experience from both settings has equipped me to deal with a broad range of Psychopathologies and be able to offer crisis, short- term and long-term Psychotherapy Interventions. I have also worked at Statistics South Africa for 1 year 6months as an Employee Health and Wellness Officer. In this setting I continued to provide individual and family therapy for employees and mediated work- related issues between the company and employees. I also currently work on a part- time basis at a Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre with patients presenting with Chronic and Severe Psychopathology such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Mood Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. My focus at the Rehabilitation Centre is Providing Psycho education, Life skills Training and Psychotherapy in order to assist patients and their families with adjusting and coping with living with their mental conditions. The overall aim of my work at the centre is to empower patients to be active members of their communities and families and know that they can live with their mental conditions beyond an instituationalised setting.

My treatment interventions are largely rooted in psychoanalytical understanding and theory. At the same time however I am a believer of complementing this with other treatment modalities in order to be accurately responsive to a client’s history and needs and to tailor treatment accordingly.

My Experience and Skills include the following:

  • Personality Disorders
  • Severe Psychopathology (Suicide, Major Depressive Disoder, Bipolar Mood Disorder, Shizophrenia)
  • Dialectic Behavioral Therapy Groups
  • Crisis intervention with self- harming Patients
  • Trauma Counselling
  • Bereavement Counselling
  • Neuropsychological Assessment for medico-legal purposes
  • Anger Management Groups
  • Lifeskills Groups
