I am a clinical psychologist based in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch. I work with children, adolescents and adults presenting with a range of challenges. Attending therapy can be a difficult and sometimes an uncomfortable step to take. Similarly, bringing your child/adolescent to therapy can be a tough decision to make. One needs to open up about personal and often private stories.

For most of us this does not happen easily. As a therapist it is most important for me to create a safe space for all my clients; a space where someone can feel comfortable enough to share their personal story, without fear of judgment or being concerned that the therapist might not understand. Through my personal and professional experiences I have developed into a therapist that can comfortably work with people from different cultural and spiritual backgrounds. I offer my sessions in either Afrikaans or English.

I completed my undergraduate studies and Honours degree at Rhodes University. Thereafter I obtained my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Community Counselling at Stellenbosch University in 2006. I then took up a position at Stellenbosch University and started a part-time private practice. I am still affiliated to the University on a half-day basis. I am currently in my final year of doctoral studies at Stellenbosch University.

I have a special interest in working with children, adolescents and adults who present with the following:

  • Anger management
  • Peer related challenges
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Adjustment to major life stressors such as divorce
  • Poor scholastic progress (children and adolescents)
  • Concentration and attention difficulties
  • Work-related challenges (adults)
  • Bereavement
  • Post-traumatic Stress and Coping
  • Stress

When working with children, collaboration with parents are often important. Parental education would therefore be offered, if indicated.
