Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands
I am a registered clinical psychologist based in Stellenbosch providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples and families. My areas of focus include Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, relationship issues and sports psychology. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults, assisting them with a range of therapeutic techniques to improve their mental health. Couple therapy remains an interest of mine, using Emotionally Focused Therapy to aid couples in re-creating connection and improving communication.
After completing a BSocSci (Honours) degree in Criminal Justice and Law I began my career working for the South African Police Service as a Ballistics Analyst in the Forensic Science Laboratory where I stayed for three years. After leaving the SAPS in 2010 to enrol for my Honours degree in Psychology, I spent time offering counselling services to victims of crime at Kirstenhof Police Station. I completed my Masters at Stellenbosch University and both my clinical internship and community service at Lentegeur Hospital in Mitchell’s Plain.
Furthermore, I conduct adult psychotherapy to assist individuals in coping with Anxiety and Depression. As a therapist I believe the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance and should be a space where my clients feel safe, comfortable and supported in reaching their therapeutic goals.
I utilize an integrative approach that is adapted for the specific needs and desires of my clients. A Systemic approach is useful in understanding the challenges facing couples and how best to address them, whilst psychodynamic insight can assist in formulating a comprehensive treatment plan. I have received training in Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Using an eclectic approach allows me to design a specific treatment plan for each client.
