My name is Jacqueline Clark. I am a clinical psychologist based in Tokai.
I have a great deal of varied experience working with children and adolescents. I have worked as a Primary School teacher in Gugulethu, Sea Point Primary, the International School of Cape Town and Reddam House Constantia. I have also worked as a High School teacher in Japan.
I have conducted research on adolescent identity, and providing peer support for pregnant mothers.
As a clinical psychologist, I have worked at Valkenberg Hospital, Groote Schuur Hospital (psychiatric emergencies and the outpatient unit) and at various HIV/TB Clinics throughout the city of Cape Town. In my work I have provided psychological services to children, adolescents and adults.
In my private practice my focus is on providing support for those struggling with depression, anxiety, difficulties with life transitions (such as divorce), bereavement, trauma, and identity issues (low self-esteem) as well as behavioural and emotional difficulties in children.
Through my work, I aim to assist in providing alleviation of suffering brought on by psychological pain, and hope to facilitate the process of finding meaning and living life in all its fullness for my clients. To this end, I believe each person is the expert on his or her own life, and that therapy is a journey we embark on together.
