Clinical Psychologist

I am a qualified and registered (HPCSA) Clinical Psychologist practicing in West Beach, Cape Town.

I specialise in a variety of mental health challenges, including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, bipolar mood disorder, adjustment challenges, life stressors, personality disorders, bereavement, among others. I have a special interest in anxiety.

I use a variety of modalities, catering to the patient’s needs and wants. These may include CBT, DBT, BWRT and insight-oriented therapy (“talk-therapy”). I primarily use a person-centered approach, using empathy and meeting the patient where they are at, and moving according to their pace. I am passionate about psychology and helping people achieve the best new versions of themselves.

I obtained my Masters degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) in Johannesburg. Following this, I completed my Internship at Helen Joseph Hospital (Johannesburg) at the outpatient department, as well as “Ward 2 (the inpatient psychiatric unit). I primarily worked with personality disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders and psychotic disorders.

I also worked during my internship at Johannesburg General Hospital (now named Charlotte Maxeke Hospital) at the Child and Family Unit. I conducted daily scholastic and psychological assessments, including report writing and parental feedback, on young children. I also engaged in play therapy as a tool for recovery.

Following my internship, I completed my Community Service at clinics in the Alberton area (Johannesburg), and serviced four clinics for those from lower income families and individuals.

After completion of Community Service, I registered as a Clinical Psychologist in Private Practice.

My vocational history includes working as a lecturer at MGI, teaching the BPsych programme. I also worked extensively in Neuropsychology, working for a company doing road accident claim assessments and reports for the Road Accident Fund (RAF), whilst running a small practice.

I moved to Cape Town four years ago, where I was an Associate at a private psychiatric clinic (Palm Tree Clinic) and established my own practice (where I am now full-time) in West Beach (Blouberg).

My passion lies in psychotherapy, assisting patients with a variety of concerns, using various modalities. I am empathic and warm, creating a safe space for the vulnerability that is inevitable when patients come for the first time to therapy. I uphold ethics to the utmost standard at all times.

I conduct in-person therapeutic services, as well as virtual/video consults. My cash fee is below medical aid rates, and a sliding scale is optional.
