Patty Sabbagh obtained her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at Monash University in 2009. Prior to this she worked in the corporate world for a number of years.
As an intern psychologist, she gained invaluable experience by working in a variety of settings with individuals, couples and families. Patty has built on this experience over the last 5 years by working in private practice with adult individuals and couples. She has recently spent some time working in private practice in Australia, where she expanded on her knowledge and range of skills by attending numerous workshops and talks by renowned authorities in the field of psychology.
Patty uses a therapeutic approach that is individualistic and integrative drawing on principles from a range of therapeutic styles. She is interested in helping clients to understand their difficulties in a way that facilitates healing; thereby assisting them to gain greater insight into their lives. She sees therapy as an empowering collaborative process, where the therapist helps to guide the client on a journey of ‘personal growth’. Patty believes that for therapy to be effective, there must be honesty, commitment and a genuine therapeutic alliance between therapist and client.
Patty has a particular interest in relationships and why some work and others do not. She works with couples and with individuals (whose relationships have broken up).
Patty is available during the day and she also offers after-hour and Saturday appointment to clients.
