Nicola Buhr
I am an Educational Psychologist in private practice. I have ten years of teaching experience as well as remedial experience. My areas of interests are psychoeducational assessments and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and young adults. I assess, diagnose and provide intervention in a caring and therapeutic environment to optimise learning and development using an integrative approach. I trained predominantly in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy approaches.
I adapt my framework to the needs of my client and work with a variety of age and cultural groups. I use evidence based psychological interventions to support my clients and to assist them in managing their emotions, behaviour, life challenges, barriers to learning, future aspirations etc. I tailor assessments and interventions according to each specific individual's needs. I believe each individual is unique with challenges unique to them. As a psychologist, I am trained to analyse and understand a variety of difficulties and to help develop healthy strategies to overcome these difficulties. Whether you are facing personal or academic challenges, overcoming these challenges will put you on a path towards personal growth and understanding.
