As an experienced registered and qualified counsellor, whom also learnt from personal experience, I understand and appreciate ‘the cause and effect’ a traumatic event or a consistent series of events can affect your mental health. I became a counsellor so that client’s can find a safe, comfortable space to be understood, not judged and an empathic ear to their issues.
Counselling is a talking therapy: it involves listening to you and helping you find ways to deal with your emotional issues, that help change bad cognitive behavioural patterns.
What can counselling do for you?: Counselling can help you cope with a mental health condition, such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder, an upsetting physical health condition, such as infertility, a difficult life event, such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress. It will help you learn to handle difficult emotions like low self-esteem or anger, or other more personal and controversial issues, such as sexual identity.
What to expect from your counselling sessions … At your appointment, you’ll settle into a safe and easy going dialog, and be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions, I’ll listen and support you without judging or criticising, as I’m here to support and guide you along on your journey. I’ll gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes, and find solutions to problems by creating a therapy program to suit your needs.
Counselling can take place either: face to face at the counselling rooms / over the phone via WhatsApp or online through live chat services like Zoom. I try and make it as easy as possible for you to feel comfortable and relaxed.
Counselling: occurs over a course of individual sessions over a few weeks or months, or a longer course that lasts for several months. It will take a number of sessions before you start to see progress, but you should gradually start to feel better with my help and support.
