MA. CLIN PSYCH (UP); BA. HONS PSYCH (UCT)
I work with adults, adolescents and couples.
My therapeutic interests are varied, and are founded on a passion for connection and providing a safe, non-judgmental space for people to share, explore and grow. If nothing else, I am an advocate for having yourself reflected back at you in a supportive and empowering space. Through my own personal therapy, I understand the apprehension around sharing intimate information. However, I have consistently observed the value of being seen, understood and challenged in therapy.
Therapy is a means to learn about, access and use your power. In a society that places value on the performance of success and happiness, it is easy to overlook the value of human connection, mental health and progress, no matter how gradual. I think about the unexpected, atypical and wounding circumstances that require us to adjust to mitigate the harm and destruction caused to us or our lives and get us ‘safely’ back on the ground. Soft landings are the acknowledgement of the hardships, setbacks and turbulence of the experience of being human, and understanding that although these can’t be completely eliminated there are ways the ultimate destruction can be contained. In my practice and in my life, I commit and recommit to safety, soft landings and connection which requires intentionality, messiness and incredible courage.
